Very soon after the technology received FDA approval for use in patients, Dr Susan Lim and her team travelled to the United States to train in both Robotic systems, the Zeus, at Computer Motion Industries, Santa Barbara, and the Da Vinci Surgical System at Intuitive Surgical Headquarters in Sunnyvale, California. The Da Vinci Surgical system is currently the Robotic system of choice worldwide for Robotic surgeries. Dr Susan Lim pioneered the first robotic gall bladder surgery at the Singapore General Hospital with Professor Christopher Cheng, using the Da Vinci Surgical System.

She has published a first in the world procedure using Robotics to perform a Nerve-Sparing Axillary Dissection using the da Vinci Surgical System in the World Journal of Surgery 29 (10):1352-1355, 2005.
